Sorry for the wait...i wanted to finish the whole page but ran out of ideas. I need to go watch more animation clips.

Btw here's what i have now. Mainly sketches for the main character and the little girl(kid) whom the character chases. The ones that i prefer are labeled with the numbers. Maybe i've spend too much time on the character as he'll be only seen in the end.

I'll focus more on our environments for the next update.

Comments are welcomed.

Models for Eyeka (0)

Eye and "i" models. are they okay?

btw

Nice stuff ronald! Your're fast.

maybe the mouth could have a more distinctive shape? something like the lips are stuck onto a sphere. What do you think Zi chao?

as for the art direction: in my mind, it was white bg all the way. how about you Zi Chao what do you think?

somewhat finalized designs. I changed the design slightly for the mouth as ronald pointed out the fact about the mouth lacking a space for the mouth sock.

Colour Test and "Lio" (0)

Here are some names I brainstormed for our little lion:

Feline
Leo
Lio
Felio

Leo sounds good to me, but it's so.. common.
So I thought of Lio? or Felio?

Yong Yi, nice details, I totally agree about the losing the essense of the chinese traditional lion dance part. Need your expertise on that :)

since the proportions are okay, I'll draft out a blueprint thingy with only proportions while you continue explore his design and details till the final one okay?
After which we'll weld these together to get the final design. Cheers!

Nice ideas Co-Captian Zi Chao.
Ya i'm okay with doing a dance with our Lion. Initially, i had ideas of a more realistic animation but doing snappy animations might be interesting as well.

and here's more sketches! I still get the fierce look in my lions, trying to get rid of it as i wanted it to be cute.

this one looks like a toy

Btw nice sketches Ronald! your Lion looks much more adorable than mine. But I kind of feel that the look of the chinese lion dance is lost a little, maybe it's the head, i'm not sure.

Pls comment! thx!

Did more research and realised some interesting things about the head shape of the traditional lion dance puppet.

Never tried the side view so went on to explore with similar proportions. :)
Added some value too

Hello guys! Here's what I have come up with based on the Lion Dance idea.

Played around with the proportions quite a bit before coming up with what I like, what I feel will be fun to animate. The one with the white background is the one I like and I'm going to explore from there.

Big head, big eyes and big bottom, short simplistic limbs and less sphisticated patterns on his body. Going for something really stylized and exaggerated.

I've also begin to search for videos of playful cubs and puppies. Hopefully will have some inspiration from there.

Argh~ the eyes! (0)

Man the eyes still bothers me. Nevertheless, heres the sketches of the lion's head i did to see if i can fix the eye. I'll explore different eye shapes next to see if it helps. Maybe there's too much eye white.number 2 and 3 is the one which I felt is closer to normal, most looked too hostile.
I think the eye white is the problem for this one.

Settling in... (0)

I've been doing lots of researches on our little lion. Here's some of the sketches on how i pictured it to look like. But i'm having problems on getting out the ferocious look the lion has... i'm currently working on the eyes. So stay tuned! :)
